Ignition Key Not Rotating Fully

:car: The key on a recently purchased used 1999 Volvo S40 is not fully rotating to the III position. Vehicle does not start. Battery seems OK. Any thoughts.

is car an auto?if so must be in park or neutral to start.

I have a similar problem with a 1999 v40 auto in which the key wont turn to the "0" position all the time. Am still waiting to see if anyone has a salution to these key problems.

Try putting a drop of 3in1 oil on the key and put it in the ignition-turn it a few times and it should free off-had this problem on a Renault12 I had many moons ago.:lightbulb:

i also had this problem with a renault, some grease on the key and insert into the barrel to coat the inside, seemed to do the trick, might help you also
