Hi Jod, The initial ruling with cats was that cars after a certain date around the end of 1992 had to physically have a cat fitted and pass the cat restrictive emissions test. The wording was then changed to a cat doesn't have to be present providing the car can actually pass through the 'cat' emissions. On LPG, cars can easily pass the cat test usually so the cat is not physically needed to be there as the emissions are so low, however my emissions were too high which I believe was due to me fitting a non-Bosch MAF the day before the MOT as my original started playing up. I refitted the cat mainly as I wanted to get the low end torque back and didn't want to bother with keep going back to the emissions test until I definitely nailed the problem with the LPG. Paul.
