Guitar modeler problem...

MessageAuthor

I have a number of guitar modler plugins, (helix, amplitube etc). I've been frustrated that the Item hover&drag volume as well as the Item hover&drag fades on the clean unprocessed guitar take are visible but have no audible effect to the guitar modeler plugin's output. I don't have this problem with any other plugins (reverbs, compressors, channel strips etc.) Aside from "apply fx" is there another work around to fix this problem?

That doesn't sound right - they should be affecting the volume in with a result of either louder plugin output or more distorted sound.

To be clear, the track volume and all else works fine, my problem is limited to volume functions related to the individual takes while using any guitar modeler.

Do they have the intended effect if you disable the plugin? If so, the plugin is compensating for incoming average levels in some way.

Execelent question! I like how you think. Yes, thats kinda where my suspicions are leaning. Only with a modeler I just noticed today that I can punch in a take with almost no signal and there'll be no fluctuation into a take at unity, normalization has no bearing. I'm a convert from Protools so I dont know if theres maybe just a box somewhere in a submenu that just needs to be unchecked or something?

In the chance no one else knows about this I'd love to get the word out. DO NOT put any guitar modeler plugin(s) on your raw Gtr track. Make a sub-mix track of your guitar take and put the modeler only on the top level folder (sub-master). The sound quality and volume dynamics are amazing! Fades, swells, strums and powerchords, every dynamic nuance of your playing comes alive. Plus, the fader on you Gtr track will now take you from light OD to full on war hammer.
